Prison of St. Paul

Prison of St. Paul
The building referred to by local tradition as the "Prison of the Apostle Paul" is in the south-west corner of the atrium of Basilica A. Following the destruction of Basilica A (after the 7th-8th c. AD) and the Octagon, this cistern was converted to a place of worship, and a small chapel was built over it as the cult of Apostle Paul was transferred here.
