The Archaeological Museum is situated in the old town of Nessebar right after the entrance of the main gate. It was created in 1965 and the first exposition was held in St. John the Babtist Church. Since 1994, the museum collects exhibits from different ages and civilizations since Antiquity till date. Apparently, the exposition is called "Nessebar during ages" representing stories and antiques from the Medieval times, antique Messembria, Thracian and Roman periods. The museum is placed in four exhibition walls, each of it having its own appearance and theme. Hall one is called and represents "Messembria and the Thracians", Hall two is for "The Pontic Polis of Mesambria", Hall three stands for "Messembria within Rome, Byzantium and Bulgaria" and Hall four exhibits icons.
